Data Loaders
Data loaders are features that load data files from other software into SPC Works.
Note that although it is not a data loader specifically, the ODBC data collection device may be used as a data loader to load data from nearly any database. Please see Database Collection Device for more information.
Available data loaders are:
The Excel data loader may be used to load data into SPC Works from Excel spreadsheets. To launch the Excel Data Loader click
File >>Import >>Excel Spreadsheet from the menu bar.
The data loader may load only one sheet at a time. Data may be arranged in either columns or rows.
Start by clicking Browse, and open the desired excel file. After opening the
file, select the sheet name from the Sheet menu, and select how the data is formated (either columns
or rows) from the Format menu.
If a variable name is present at the start of each column or row then check
the At first cell check box located at the bottom of the dialog. If this box is checked,
SPC Works will use these names as the variable name.
Specify the range of cells to load from the spreadsheet. Select the text box located under the
column Start and row Data. Enter the location of the first cell of the dataset
(for example: if the data cell range is A1 to A10, type A1 for column A and row 1 of the excel spreadsheet).
Next, select the text box located under the
column End and row Data. Enter the location of the last cell of the dataset
(for example: if the data cell range is A1 to A10, type A10 for column A and row 10 of the excel spreadsheet).
If time data is also to be loaded, check the Time check box. Next, specify the range of time data cells to
load from the spreadsheet. Select the text box located under the
column Start and row Time. Enter the location of the first cell of the time dataset
(for example: if the time cell range is B1 to B10, type B1 for column B and row 1 of the excel spreadsheet).
Next, select the text box located under the
column End and row Time. Enter the location of the last cell of the time dataset
(for example: if the time cell range is B1 to B10, type B10 for column B and row 10 of the excel spreadsheet).
